Peregraf is pleased to launch its English website on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 so English speaking readers can access unbiased reports and investigations regarding the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

Peregraf was first launched in Kurdish only, with the motto “Anchored on Trust”, in January 2017. Since then, it has published hundreds of investigative reports concerning the affairs of Kurds in the Middle East.

According to Surkew Mohammed, the founder and current editor-in-chief of Peregraf, the need to an independent and unbiased media outlet compelled them to launch the English website as well. He said, “Almost all Kurdish websites that have an English version are affiliated with either a political party or a politician. Thus, it’s crucial to western readers who care about the issues of Kurds to access an independent outlet working without any affiliation to a political party.”

Regarding their choice of stories on the English website, he said, “It will not be a daily news website, but dedicated to in-depth investigative reports per week. We are mostly going to cover the behind-the-scenes political developments in Kurdistan.” He added, “Furthermore, we’ll pay special attention to the economic, environmental, and social issues as well.”

The office of Peregraf is based in the city of Sulaimaniyah, Kurdistan region of Iraq. It is partially funded by the Open Society Foundation for a year.
