KRG Transfers 120 Billion Dinars in Non-Oil Revenues to Baghdad, Still Awaits August Salaries

Peregraf- A source in the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) told Peregraf that 120 billion dinars of the Region’s non-oil revenues were handed over to Baghdad on Tuesday, as the KRG awaits the transfer of funds for public employees’ August salaries later this week.
More than two and a half months after they were due, salaries for August 2025 remain unpaid for around 1.2 million public employees in the Kurdistan Region. The prolonged delay has deepened frustration among teachers, civil servants, and security personnel, who accuse both the KRG and Iraq’s federal government of neglecting their responsibilities.
The source said the KRG has fully complied with its financial obligations by transferring non-oil revenues, as part of the budget-sharing mechanism agreed with Baghdad earlier this year. “The handover was completed today, and now we are waiting for Baghdad to release the salary funds,” the source added.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said on Monday that Baghdad has resolved its oil dispute with the Kurdistan Region and that discussions on non-oil revenue sharing are ongoing. He emphasized that these talks “will not affect the regular payment of salaries.”
Despite the prime minister’s assurances, employees in the Kurdistan Region have yet to receive their August wages, adding to growing public discontent over recurring salary delays.
