Halabja Pomegranate Festival Draws 420,000 Visitors, Generates Over $1.2 Million

Peregraf- Nearly 420,000 people visited the Halabja Pomegranate and Autumn Festival over its three-day run, making it one of the most successful editions to date, according to Halabja Tourism.

Chia Qasim, Director of Halabja Tourism, said the event attracted 419,700 tourists and visitors, with 81,000 small vehicles, 204 buses, 720 minibuses, 55 tourist groups, and 4,900 motorcycles entering the province during the festival period.

Qasim noted that between 35–40% of visitors toured Halabja’s surrounding tourist destinations in addition to attending the festival.

Official figures show that pomegranates, food, agricultural products, and handicrafts worth 1.7 billion Iraqi dinars ($1,205,000) were sold during the event.

The festival featured 700 booths and sales units, providing direct employment for 210 people and indirect opportunities for more than 3,000 individuals, organizers said.

The three-day festival concluded today.
