Qubad Talabani Says 'Sulaymaniyah Is Iraq’s Most Stable City and the Capital of Investment'
Peregraf - Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani said on Tuesday that Sulaymaniyah has become “the capital of business and investment in Iraq,” crediting decades of “stability and strong private-sector engagement for the city’s growing economic role”.
Speaking at the Sulaymaniyah Investment Forum, Talabani emphasized that the province has created “a calm environment for investment,” making it the most stable city in both Iraq and Kurdistan for many years.
Talabani highlighted several key points:
• Sulaymaniyah has emerged as a leading investment hub, driven by a robust private sector and major development projects implemented over recent years.
• He acknowledged the contributions of “courageous and patriotic capitalists” who continue to move the economy forward despite political and financial disputes.
• The city leads in health and policing services, he said, noting that women have played an increasingly important role in both sectors.
• The DPM reiterated the government’s commitment to increasing transparency to ensure sustained growth across all fields.
• He added that the administration is giving greater attention to developing districts and sub-districts, by transferring key sectors and resources beyond the major cities.
KRG Deputy Prime Minister concluded that Sulaymaniyah is progressing toward a stronger economy, supported by its stability, private-sector dynamism, and an investment-friendly environment.
