Peregraf — U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation in Syria, warning that the Kurds face serious threats from the new Syrian government aligned with Turkey.
In a post on X, Graham called abandoning the Kurds “a disaster for America’s reputation and national security interests,” highlighting their central role as allies in defeating the ISIS caliphate.
He announced plans to introduce legislation this week, the Save the Kurds Act, designed to impose crippling sanctions on any government or group engaging in hostilities against Kurdish forces. Graham said he expects strong bipartisan support for the bill and emphasized that it must be robust to be effective.
