Peregraf – In a significant move toward national reconciliation, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian government announced a comprehensive agreement on Friday, January 30, 2026, establishing a permanent ceasefire and a framework for the sequential integration of military and administrative bodies.

The agreement marks a turning point in the Syrian conflict, outlining a transition toward unified governance and a joint security apparatus.

Military Restructuring and Security

According to the statement released by the SDF Media Center, the deal mandates the immediate withdrawal of military forces from primary lines of contact. As part of the security transition, internal security forces under the Syrian Ministry of Interior will enter the city centers of Al-Hasakah and Qamishli to begin the process of merging regional security units.

The military component of the deal includes the formation of a new military division comprising three brigades drawn from the SDF. Additionally, a specific brigade for Kobani forces will be established, operating under a military division within the Aleppo Governorate.

Administrative Integration and Civil Service

A key pillar of the accord is the dissolution of the Autonomous Administration’s independent structures and their full integration into Syrian state institutions. The agreement guarantees the legal status of civilian employees currently serving in the region, ensuring their permanent transition into the state’s civil service.

Kurdish Rights and Humanitarian Provisions

Beyond military and political logistics, the agreement addresses long-standing social and cultural issues. It includes provisions for the settlement of civil and educational rights for the Kurdish people, recognizing their role within the national fabric. Furthermore, both parties have committed to guaranteeing the safe and voluntary return of displaced persons (IDPs) to their original homes.

A Unified Vision for Reconstruction

The SDF Media Center emphasized that the primary objective of this agreement is the full unification of Syrian territory. By fostering cooperation and consolidating efforts, both sides aim to achieve total regional integration and launch a collective effort to rebuild the nation’s infrastructure and economy.
