Barzani, U.S. Envoy Discuss Syria–SDF Agreement and Ceasefire

Peregraf- Barzani Headquarters announced that KDP President Masoud Barzani held a telephone conversation on Friday with Tom Barrack, the U.S. President’s Special Envoy for Syria, focusing on the agreement reached between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

According to the statement, Barrack expressed his appreciation—on behalf of himself and the President of the United States—for Barzani’s role in supporting dialogue between Damascus and the SDF and for his contribution to achieving the ceasefire. He praised Barzani’s efforts in facilitating the agreement signed between the two sides, describing them as an important step toward stability in northern Syria.

Barzani welcomed the agreement, emphasizing its importance in consolidating peace and reducing tensions, particularly in the Kurdish regions of Syria. He stressed that dialogue remains the only viable path to resolving disputes and ensuring long-term stability.

Barzani also thanked Barrack for his influential role in advancing the agreement and promoting peaceful solutions in Syria, expressing hope that the deal would serve as a foundation for broader understanding and sustainable peace.
