Peregraf- President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani received a phone call Tuesday evening from French President Emmanuel Macron, as the war involving United States, Israel, and Iran entered its fourth consecutive day.
According to an official statement, the two leaders discussed the latest regional developments amid intensifying military escalation. Both sides expressed deep concern over the rapidly deteriorating security situation and stressed the urgent need to preserve peace and stability.
Macron and Barzani reaffirmed the importance of increasing international diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and resolve the crisis through peaceful means. They also exchanged views on broader issues of mutual interest.
The call comes as the Kurdistan Region faces growing security threats. Officials confirmed that Erbil has been targeted by more than 70 Iranian missiles and drones in recent days. Armed factions affiliated with the so-called Islamic Resistance in Iraq—a network of Iran-aligned groups—have intensified their campaign of missile and drone attacks across the region.
The escalating strikes highlight rising concerns that the conflict could further destabilize Iraq and draw additional regional actors into the confrontation.
