Peregraf - U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Tom Barrack praised both Erbil and Baghdad for their "steadfast cooperation" in facilitating the resumption of energy exports on the 18th day of the war on Iran, describing their efforts as "truly invaluable" at a critical moment for the region.

"Many thanks to Erbil and Baghdad for their work to reach agreement at this critical time to resume energy exports and improve prosperity for the region," Barrack said. "Your courage, steadfast cooperation, and commitment to the diplomatic path have been truly invaluable. The United States remains fully committed to supporting these important efforts in this time of crisis."

The remarks came after a call between Barrack and Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, who confirmed the ongoing dialogue with Baghdad.

"I spoke with U.S. Ambassador Tom Barrack on the ongoing Erbil–Baghdad talks," Barzani said. "On oil, I made clear that the Kurdistan Region will allow the federal government to resume exports via our pipeline. On the trade embargo, I urged our U.S. partners to continue supporting the negotiations as observers."

The statements build on an earlier KRG announcement that it would allow Baghdad to resume exports through the Kurdistan Region's pipeline to Turkey, a development that followed weeks of tensions over northern oil flows.

Officials said talks will continue to address remaining commercial and security issues, including guarantees for international oil companies to safely resume operations.

Barrack's remarks underscore the role Washington has sought to play in facilitating dialogue between Erbil and Baghdad amid the broader instability triggered by the war on Iran.

Further updates are expected as technical and political arrangements are finalized.
