Peregraf - Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, visited the headquarters of the National Intelligence Service in Baghdad on Sunday following a deadly attack that killed one of its officers. Al-Sudani described the incident as a terrorist act and condemned it as a violation of Iraqi blood and state institutions.

He was received by the head of the National Intelligence Service and senior officials, who briefed him on the circumstances of the assault. During the visit, the prime minister directed security agencies to continue a thorough investigation, stressing that those responsible would be identified and brought to justice. “Whoever dares to shed Iraqi blood does not represent Iraq,” Al-Sudani said, emphasizing that no ideology or pretext can justify such violence, according to Media Office of the Prime Minister.

The prime minister also urged national political forces to take a clear stance against attacks on state institutions, warning that such actions “jeopardize the country’s future.” He reaffirmed that the state alone holds authority over matters of war and peace and that the government would not remain idle in protecting Iraq’s security and national interests.

Al-Sudani’s visit included meetings with senior intelligence and security officials, who provided a comprehensive briefing on ongoing operations and intelligence assessments. The government emphasized its commitment to transparency and accountability in investigating the attack.

The incident comes amid heightened security concerns in Baghdad, where attacks on state institutions have alarmed officials and citizens alike.
