Peregraf — Sipan Hamo, Deputy Defense Minister for the Eastern Region of Syria and a senior commander within the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), condemned a missile attack targeting the Kharab al-Jir base in northeastern Syria on Monday evening.

In a statement, Hamo said the attack was carried out using missiles launched from Iraqi territory, holding Iraqi authorities "fully and directly responsible" for failing to prevent their territory from being used to launch strikes that threaten Syria's security and territorial integrity.

He confirmed that the strike caused material damage to the base but did not result in any casualties among SDF personnel.

Hamo called on Baghdad to "assume its responsibilities immediately and effectively," urging Iraqi authorities to take firm and decisive measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The Kharab al-Jir base, located in the Rmeilan area of northeastern Syria's al-Hasakah governorate, is considered a strategic site for SDF operations and also hosted US forces previously. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
