PEREGRAF — The Ministry of Peshmerga announced that six Peshmerga were killed and 30 others wounded in what it described as “an Iranian ballistic missile attack” targeting military positions in the Soran region in Erbil early Tuesday.
According to the statement, two separate strikes hit a headquarters of the 1st Sector's 7th Infantry Division and a unit affiliated with the 5th Infantry Division within the Peshmerga Forces.
The ministry claims that the positions were struck by six Iranian ballistic missiles in what it condemned as a "hostile act defined by treachery and betrayal," accusing the attack of violating humanitarian norms and principles of neighborly relations.
The statement confirmed that six Peshmerga were "martyred" and 30 others injured as a result of the strikes.
The ministry strongly condemned the attack and warned that it "reserves every right to respond" to aggression against the Kurdistan Region.
It also called on the Iraqi federal government, the international community, and allied partners to take a clear stance and not remain silent in the face of what it described as repeated violations.
The ministry urged all parties to keep conflict and instability away from the Kurdistan Region, while expressing condolences to the families of the victims and wishing a speedy recovery for the wounded.
