Peregraf — The Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority has announced the extension of the closure of Iraqi airspace to all arriving, departing, and overflying aircraft for an additional week, citing ongoing security concerns and regional developments.
The restriction takes effect from 12:00 PM on Friday, April 3, 2026 (09:00 UTC), and will remain in place until 12:00 PM on Friday, April 10, 2026. Officials described the measure as temporary and precautionary, aimed at ensuring the safety of civil aviation amid heightened instability in the region.
Authorities said the decision will remain under continuous review, with adjustments possible depending on evolving conditions. Airlines and relevant aviation bodies will be informed of any further updates.
Iraqi airspace has been largely closed since February 28, following escalating tensions linked to the ongoing US-Israel war with Iran, which has raised concerns over potential risks to civilian air traffic across the region.
