Peregraf — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs stated that "outlawed armed groups" launched four booby-trapped drone attacks targeting a Peshmerga headquarters late Sunday. The ministry described the incident as part of an escalating campaign against its forces. Today, April 6, 2026, marks the 38th day of the US-Israel War on Iran.

In a statement issued Monday, the ministry said the attacks took place on the night of April 5, striking a Peshmerga base. While the ministry reported significant casualties and material damage, it did not provide specific figures.

The ministry noted that the latest strike is part of a continuing wave of attacks in recent days across multiple areas of the Kurdistan Region, all aimed at Peshmerga positions. It criticized the Iraqi federal government for failing to act, asserting that the attacks were being carried out "openly and in full view of the Iraqi Army and security forces" without effective intervention.

"To date, the Federal Government, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani, the Joint Operations Command, and Iraqi security institutions have not taken any serious stance to prevent these 'terrorist and subversive' attacks," the statement said.

The ministry emphasized that the Peshmerga are an integral part of Iraq’s national defense system and have played a central role in maintaining security across both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. Calling for immediate action, the ministry urged the government in Baghdad to stop the attacks and hold those responsible accountable, warning that continued inaction could lead to a shift in its position.

"For the sake of the interests of all the people of Iraq and Kurdistan, and given the volatile situation, we have exercised restraint," the statement said. "However, if the Federal Government continues to remain indifferent, we will be forced to take a different stance."
