Peregraf- An informed source confirmed to Peregraf Media that Waysi Akhir, a Peshmerga fighter wounded in the recent missile attack on a military headquarters in Soran, has died after several days in hospital.

Akhir was among dozens of Peshmerga injured in the March 24 strike, when six Iranian ballistic missiles hit Kurdish positions in two waves. The targets included the headquarters of the 7th Infantry Division under Command Area One, as well as a unit from the 5th Infantry Division.

The attack was one of the deadliest against Kurdish forces in recent months. At least six Peshmerga fighters were killed at the time, with around 30 others wounded. Akhir’s death raises the toll further, underscoring the severity of the assault.

Officials in the Kurdistan Region have strongly condemned the strikes, describing them as a violation of Iraqi sovereignty and the principles of good neighborly relations. Authorities have called on Baghdad and the international community to take firm measures to prevent further escalation and protect the Region from continued attacks.

The incident comes amid the ongoing U.S.-Israel war with Iran. April 7 marks the 39th day of the conflict, which began on February 28 with large-scale strikes and has since expanded across multiple countries.

According to data compiled by Peregraf Media, more than 650 drones and missiles have targeted sites across the Kurdistan Region since the outbreak of hostilities. These attacks have been attributed either to Iranian forces or to armed groups operating under the banner of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq.

Peregraf records indicate that at least 15 people, including Peshmerga personnel and security officers, have been killed in these attacks, while approximately 70 others have been wounded.
