Two Drones Launched from Iran Toward Erbil Intercepted Amid Ongoing Attacks Despite Ceasefire
Peregraf — Two explosive-laden drones launched from Iran toward Erbil were intercepted mid-air on Tuesday, Kurdish authorities said, in the latest incident despite an ongoing ceasefire.
The Kurdistan Region’s Counter-Terrorism Directorate said the drones were detected at 17:04 on April 14, 2026, and were shot down by fighter jets before reaching their targets. No casualties or material damage were reported.

The incident highlights continued security threats in the Kurdistan Region despite a two-week ceasefire announced on April 8 following a 40-day conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
Drone and missile attacks have persisted across the region, with Kurdish authorities warning that stability has yet to be restored. Recent reports indicate that hundreds of aerial attacks have targeted the Kurdistan Region since the outbreak of hostilities, often focusing on military sites, infrastructure, and locations linked to Iranian Kurdish opposition groups.
According to data compiled by Peregraf Media, more than 650 drones and missiles have targeted sites across the Kurdistan Region since the conflict began. At least 16 people, including Peshmerga personnel and security officers, have been killed—some of them members of Iranian Kurdish peshmerga parties—while around 70 others have been wounded.
Despite expectations that the ceasefire would ease tensions, attacks have continued.
Earlier today, a drone strike targeted the headquarters of Komala in the Surdash sub-district of Dukan in Sulaymaniyah. Komala military commander Amjad Panahi said the strike hit the party’s base.
On April 10, the Kurdistan Regional Government Ministry of Interior reported a series of drone attacks across the region a day earlier, stating that all were intercepted without casualties. However, the ministry warned that “terrorists and outlaws” continue to undermine stability.
“The Kurdistan Region and its citizens were expecting the normalization of the situation, but unfortunately… attacks continue to sow chaos,” the ministry said.
Authorities have reiterated calls for all parties to halt attacks and respect stability in the Kurdistan Region.
