Peregraf — At least 20 people, including Peshmerga personnel, members of Iranian Kurdish opposition parties, civilians, and security personnel, have been killed in Iranian drone and missile attacks, as well as strikes by Iran-backed Iraqi militias, across the Kurdistan Region, according to data compiled by Peregraf Media.

Around 100 others have been wounded in the attacks, some of them after the two-week U.S.–Iran ceasefire announced on April 8, marking the 40th day of the war.

In a statement posted on X on April 18, Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), condemned the recent attacks, saying the Kurdistan Region continues to be targeted despite not being part of the wider U.S.-Israel war on Iran.

“We strongly condemn the ongoing drone attacks against the Kurdistan Region over the last several days. Although we have not been part of the conflict, we continue to come under attack,” Barzani said.

He called on the Iraqi federal government to take practical steps to stop the attacks and prevent further escalation, while also urging international partners to provide the necessary equipment to protect the Kurdistan Region, including civilian areas and critical energy infrastructure.
