PAK Says Iran Attacked Headquarters With Four Drones and Missiles After Trump Ceasefire Extension

Peregraf — Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK) said Iran attacked one of its headquarters early Wednesday using four drones and missiles, wounding three Peshmerga members, just hours after U.S. President Donald Trump announced an extension of the ceasefire with Tehran.

In an official statement, PAK said the strike targeted a headquarters of the Kurdistan National Army at 1:24 a.m.

The party said the attack happened only two hours after Trump announced that Washington would extend the ceasefire with Iran while maintaining military pressure and the ongoing blockade.

According to PAK, three members of its forces were wounded in the strike.

The group strongly criticized both Iran and the United States, saying the Kurdistan Region remains the only territory where Tehran continues to violate the ceasefire through repeated missile and drone attacks. 

“The United States cannot consider the Kurds its friends and partners during times of war and operations against terrorists, and President Donald Trump cannot express love for the Kurds and Peshmerga, only to remain a mere spectator during times of peace and ceasefire while Tehran and its subordinate Iraqi groups launch attacks against them,” the statement said. 

PAK added that Iran has failed to respect the ceasefire in the Kurdistan Region, continuing what it described as constant missile and drone attacks. 

The party also said those targeted in Wednesday’s strike were veterans of the three-year war against ISIS and had played a major role in defeating the October 20, 2017 assault by Iran’s Quds Force and the Popular Mobilization Forces aimed at entering Erbil. 

The latest attack adds to a growing number of drone and missile strikes targeting Iranian Kurdish opposition groups and Peshmerga positions across the Kurdistan Region despite the declared U.S.-Iran ceasefire. 

Peregraf records show that at least 20 people have been killed and around 100 wounded in Iranian and Iran-backed Iraqi militia attacks across the Kurdistan Region since the conflict escalated.
