KRG Rejects Iran’s Repeated Allegations, Denies Presence of Foreign Intelligence Bases

Peregraf — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has rejected repeated allegations from Iranian institutions claiming that foreign intelligence agencies operate inside the Kurdistan Region, calling the accusations baseless and far from the truth.

In a statement issued Friday, the KRG’s Department of Foreign Relations of the Kurdistan Regional Government said there are no headquarters or training centers for foreign intelligence agencies in the Kurdistan Region.

"The Kurdistan Regional Government rejects all such accusations and reaffirms that no headquarters or training centers for foreign intelligence agencies exist in the Kurdistan Region," the statement said.

"Linking the region to such issues is groundless and contrary to the facts."

The statement came in response to recent allegations published by judicial institutions and official media outlets in Iran, which claimed that some sentenced individuals had allegedly received training from foreign intelligence agencies inside the Kurdistan Region.

Call for Stability and Sovereignty

The KRG said it was deeply concerned by the continuation of such accusations at a time when the region needs greater restraint, dialogue, and responsible engagement.

It warned that such allegations risk creating further instability, while the Kurdistan Region has consistently worked to preserve peace and avoid escalation.

The government stressed that the Kurdistan Region remains committed to stability, neutrality, and coexistence within Iraq and the wider region.

It also reaffirmed that, under the Iraqi constitution and principles of good neighborly relations, Kurdistan Region territory must not be used to threaten the security of neighboring countries.

Call on Baghdad and the International Community

At the same time, the KRG called on the federal government in Baghdad to fulfill its constitutional responsibility to protect Iraqi sovereignty and prevent violations against the territory of the Kurdistan Region.

The statement also urged the international community to intensify efforts to reduce tensions, respect sovereignty, protect civilians, and support regional peace and stability.

"The people of the Kurdistan Region have endured decades of pain, conflict, and sacrifice for the sake of peace, dignity, and constitutional rights," the statement said.

The KRG added that it remains committed to responsible governance, protecting citizens, and maintaining peaceful relations with neighboring countries and international partners.

The response comes amid continued drone and missile attacks across the Kurdistan Region and repeated accusations from Tehran regarding the presence of Iranian Kurdish opposition groups and alleged foreign intelligence activity in the area.
