Peregraf- Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani received Mazloum Abdi, Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), in Erbil on Tuesday, where the two sides discussed developments in Syria, Kurdish affairs, and regional security.
According to a statement from the Kurdistan Region Presidency, the meeting focused on the situation in Syria and the status of Kurds and other ethnic and religious components in the country.
The two sides also exchanged views on broader regional developments, the importance of preserving stability, and confronting terrorism threats.
During the meeting, Mazloum Abdi expressed gratitude for what the statement described as the continuous support of Nechirvan Barzani and the Kurdistan Region leadership for the rights of Kurds and other communities in Syria.
The discussions additionally emphasized the importance of dialogue and understanding among Kurdish parties in Syria in order to resolve outstanding issues with Damascus.
The meeting comes amid continuing political and security uncertainty in Syria and ongoing discussions regarding the future relationship between Kurdish-led authorities in northeast Syria and the Syrian government.
Several other matters of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting, according to the presidency.
