Peregraf- The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned missile and drone attacks targeting Kuwait, reaffirming Baghdad’s opposition to actions that threaten the security and stability of countries in the region.

In a statement, the ministry said Iraq rejects "all actions that threaten the security and stability of the countries in the region" and called for restraint to prevent further escalation.

"The Ministry emphasizes the importance of exercising self-restraint and avoiding escalation, in a manner that contributes to reducing tensions and enhancing regional security and stability," the statement said.

Baghdad also stressed the need to resolve crises through dialogue and diplomatic channels.

No Direct Reference to Iran

The Iraqi statement did not identify the source of the attacks.

However, it came after the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry accused Iran of carrying out missile and drone strikes against Kuwait, describing the attacks as a blatant violation of the country's sovereignty and a direct threat to civilians and critical infrastructure.

Kuwait Says Air Defenses Intercepted Attacks

Last Thursday, the Kuwaiti military announced that its air defense systems had intercepted what it described as hostile missile and drone attacks.

The army urged residents to follow security and safety instructions issued by the relevant authorities.

Call for Peaceful Solutions

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry reiterated Baghdad’s support for regional and international efforts aimed at preventing a wider conflict.

"The Republic of Iraq supports all regional and international efforts aimed at preventing the expansion of the cycle of violence," the ministry said, calling for peaceful solutions that preserve security and stability across the region.
