Peregraf — Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi held a phone call Monday with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, with talks covering bilateral ties, oil exports via the Kirkuk–Ceyhan pipeline, and joint efforts to develop mechanisms for shipping Iraqi crude to European markets.

The two leaders also addressed water issues, affirming the importance of continued dialogue to reach shared understandings serving both countries' interests. Discussions extended to potential cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding in the fields of gas and agriculture.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to the Development Road project, describing it as strategically vital for enhancing economic and trade connectivity between Iraq, Turkey, and the broader region, with both leaders pledging to press ahead with its implementation, according to the Iraqi prime minister's media office.

Erdoğan renewed his invitation to Prime Minister Al-Zaidi to visit Ankara, expected at the end of July, to further discuss bilateral issues and advance cooperation — particularly regarding the launch of Development Road implementation.

Al-Zaidi, for his part, invited Turkish companies to invest in Iraq and take advantage of available opportunities across various sectors, stressing the role of the private sector in deepening economic ties between the two countries.
