At Least Nine Peshmerga Killed in IRGC Strike on Iranian Kurdish Opposition Base in Sulaymaniyah
Peregraf — At least nine Peshmerga fighters were killed and several others wounded early Friday morning in missile strikes on a headquarters of the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan (Revolutionary Toilers' Party of Iranian Kurdistan) in the Zrgwez area of Sulaymaniyah province, according to the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights.
Hengaw said the attack targeted the headquarters of the Iranian Kurdish opposition group, resulting in casualties among Peshmerga forces present at the site.
There has been no immediate confirmation of the reported casualty toll from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) or Iraqi authorities.

KRG officials have repeatedly said the Region is not a party to the US-Israel War on Iran and have called for Iraq's sovereignty and security to be respected. Iranian authorities, meanwhile, have long described Iranian Kurdish opposition groups based in the Kurdistan Region as a security threat and have previously carried out cross-border missile and drone strikes against their positions, though Tehran has not yet commented on Friday's strike.
The attack came just hours after the Kurdistan Region Security Council's Directorate General of Counter Terrorism (CTD) said Coalition forces intercepted and shot down eight explosive-laden drones over Erbil between 4:19 a.m. and 5:25 a.m. on Friday, underscoring a sharp escalation in security incidents across the Kurdistan Region.
The latest attack also comes as the US-Israel War on Iran has intensified since the collapse of an earlier ceasefire in early July. Since then, US Central Command has conducted repeated strikes on Iranian targets, while Iran has launched retaliatory attacks against US and allied positions across the region, according to international reports.
