Peregraf — ShaMaran Petroleum Ltd. has suspended oil production and pipeline exports at the Atrush and Sarsang fields in Iraq's Kurdistan Region, citing deteriorating regional security conditions linked to the ongoing US War on Iran.
"Production and pipeline exports at the Atrush and Sarsang fields have been temporarily shut in due to the deterioration of the regional security environment," the company said in a statement, adding that it is monitoring the situation with its joint venture partners.
ShaMaran said production will resume once conditions are deemed safe. The company had shut in the same fields in early March 2026 during an earlier phase of the war before restarting output in June and July.
The announcement comes as the US War on Iran has intensified, with Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting military installations and energy infrastructure across the Kurdistan Region. The worsening security situation has prompted several international energy companies to suspend or reduce operations as a precaution.
ShaMaran's decision follows similar announcements by Gulf Keystone Petroleum, which suspended production at its Shaikan field after having restarted it only on June 24, and Dana Gas, which halted operations at the Khor Mor gas field in mid-July, underscoring the growing impact of the war on the Kurdistan Region's energy sector.
