Iraq's National Security Service Says It Foiled Baghdad Drone Manufacturing Workshop
Peregraf - Iraq's National Security Service (NSS) said Tuesday it carried out an operation that foiled a drone-manufacturing workshop inside the capital, Baghdad, and arrested three suspects allegedly involved in the activity, according to a statement issued by the agency's Directorate of Relations and Media.
The NSS said the operation, which followed a precise intelligence effort, was carried out under the supervision of the judge of the Third Investigative Court, which has jurisdiction over NSS cases. NSS units executed arrest and search warrants issued against the suspects, seizing 25 drone frames, along with equipment and tools allegedly used in assembly and production, the statement said.
The investigation also led to the discovery of the workshop, which contained carbon-fiber sheets and machined parts, along with technical supplies used in production, according to the NSS.
The NSS said the workshop's activity was halted before production could be completed, and that investigations are continuing to determine whether the activity is linked to any plots targeting national security, ahead of referring the suspects to the judiciary.
