A journalist who was assaulted by the security personnel of a military official from the Peshmerga Ministry in the Chamchamal district recounts his experience. "There were two individuals armed with knives and guns. They stabbed me in the stomach, resulting in 21 stitches."

Wirya Abdulkhaliq, a reporter for Bwarnews, was attacked at his residence in Qashqa village, Chamchamal. His media outlet reported, "He was the target of an attempted murder and has narrowly escaped death."

"We published a routine news article regarding the suspension of a project in a village within the Garmian District, valued at 600 million dinars, and an officer from the Peshmerga Ministry is implicated in this suspension," Abdulkhaliq informed reporters.

"The Peshmerga officer had the option to file a complaint; however, two individuals came to my home in Bani Maqan yesterday with the intent to kill me using a gun and a knife. I sustained a stab wound to my stomach, requiring 21 stitches, and I also sustained an injury to my head from a gun hit inflicted by the two assailants.."

"They had previously threatened my life. When they arrived under the pretense of reconciliation, I welcomed them into my home, never anticipating their true intentions. Both were armed with guns and knives," the journalist stated.

"They brandished a gun at me. One of the assailants suggested shooting me, but due to the presence of some workers nearby, the other advised against it. They then fled the scene, puncturing my tire in front of my house to prevent me from pursuing them. One of them claimed I had stabbed him and that he was now going to die," Abdulkhaliq added.

He further expressed, "I request that this matter be addressed through legal channels. The individual responsible for this incident is an officer of the Peshmerga Ministry. I hope that appropriate legal measures will be taken against him."
