After twenty-eight years of uncertainty and heartache, Saifullah Hussein has been reunited with his family in the Kurdistan Region. Saifullah, originally from Sarwchawa township in the Raparin administration, left for Europe in 1996. However, his journey took an unexpected turn, forcing him to travel to Africa, where he eventually settled in Kenya. Years later, Saifullah went missing, leaving his family in a state of despair.
Saifullah's brother revealed that they maintained contact while Saifullah resided in Kenya. The last communication was on January 15, 2003, when Saifullah called his father. After that call, he disappeared without a trace.
For 21 long years, his whereabouts remained unknown. Recently, Saifullah resurfaced, released from a Kenyan prison at the age of around 50. The Sulaymaniyah Passport Directorate promptly informed his family of his release.
While the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and imprisonment are still unclear, Saifullah's family is working diligently with the Sulaymaniyah Passport Directorate to secure a passport for his return. They have appealed to the government and relevant authorities for assistance in bringing Saifullah back home.
This reunion is bittersweet, as Saifullah's mother and relatives rejoice in his return, yet his father passed away on July 23, 2023, longing to see his son once more. The family remains hopeful and determined to reunite Saifullah with his mother and loved ones, closing a painful chapter in their lives.
