An important intra-Kurdish dialogue conference on unity and solidarity is being held today in Qamishli, northeast Syria (Rojava), bringing together major Kurdish political forces, including the Democratic Union Party (PYD), the Kurdish National Council (ENKS), and other parties. The conference aims to unify Kurdish ranks and contribute to shaping Syria’s future.
Speaking at the event, Mazloum Abdi, Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), stressed that Kurdish unity is not a threat to Syria’s territorial integrity.
“The Kurdish Unity Conference does not mean the division of Syria; on the contrary, the conference reinforces Syria’s unity,” Abdi stated.
He emphasized that a new constitutional framework is needed to ensure lasting peace and coexistence.
“The new Syria needs a decentralized constitution that includes all communities,” Abdi declared, highlighting the importance of recognizing the diverse social fabric of the country.
Abdi further stressed that the Kurdish people’s rights must be guaranteed within Syria’s new political structure.
“In the new Syria, the rights of the Kurds must be guaranteed, and this is our fundamental demand,” he said.
Moreover, Abdi pointed to the responsibility borne by the people of northeastern Syria in safeguarding what has been achieved in recent years.
“Our duty is to protect the achievements of northeastern Syria and the rights of all communities,” he affirmed.
The conference reflects ongoing efforts among Kurdish parties to overcome internal divisions and present a united political vision for a democratic and decentralized Syria where all ethnic and religious groups enjoy equal rights.
