In less than the past 24 hours, two explosive-laden drones were detonated at a Peshmerga position in the border area of Amedi district, Duhok province, leaving five Peshmerga fighters wounded. The Security Council of the Kurdistan Region, without naming any specific party, attributed the attacks to a "terrorist group."

The targeted site is a newly established base of the Zeravani Peshmerga Forces, located in the village of Blave in Amedi district. This area has recently witnessed intense clashes between the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) guerrillas and the Turkish military.

In a statement, the Kurdistan Region Security Council stated, "Yesterday and this morning, a terrorist group carried out two separate attacks using drones, targeting Peshmerga positions in the Duhok Governorate border area, resulting in the injury of five Peshmerga fighters."

According to the statement, the condition of the wounded is "stable," and the Security Council emphasized that "the Peshmerga are prepared with unwavering resolve to counter any hostile plots and attacks."

"While the Kurdish peace process with the Turkish government, the conference of Kurdish parties in Syria, and the formation of the new Kurdistan Regional Government cabinet are nearing completion, certain parties and groups are attempting to undermine peace and stability in the region," the Security Council noted.

While condemning the attacks, the Council also warned "all groups and parties that target the security of the Kurdistan Region," affirming that "the Peshmerga forces and internal security forces are prepared to take appropriate measures in response to any aggressive acts."
