Peregraf- Salahaddin Mohammed Bahaaddin, Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Islamic Union (KIU) also known as (Yakgirtu), warned that governance in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region could undergo significant change, regardless of who holds power, during his party’s campaign rally in Chamchamal on Saturday.

“The directions are moving towards this: even if the individuals are not changed, the governance in the region will certainly be changed, and it is very likely that Iraq will not be excluded from it,” Bahaaddin said.

He described the November parliamentary vote as “the last attempt by Iraqi officials to avoid military action,” adding that “the global and regional superpowers are waiting for the election results.”

The Yakgirtu leader also launched a strong attack on the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), accusing them of failing to address the region’s core challenges despite holding high-ranking positions in Baghdad.

“With all the positions they have had in Baghdad, they have not been able to solve the main problems of our nation,” he said. “Everyone they sent to Baghdad was like a guest and worked to fill their own pockets and serve party interests.”

Iraq’s parliamentary campaign period began on October 3 and will continue until November 8. Special voting is scheduled for November 9, with the general election to follow on November 11.
