Shaswar Abdulwahid has gone on a hunger strike for several days and his health condition is unstable, as per the speech of two senior officials from New Generation to Peregraf.

Dosty Ahmed, member of High Council on New Generation, told Peregraf "Based on the information we have received, Shaswar Abdulwahid is currently on hunger strike in prison and his health is unstable."

At the same time, Himdad Shain, the head of Iraqi Desk of New Generation, confirmed the news to Peregraf and said "it has been several days that the president of New Generation is on hunger strike and his health condition is unstable."

The speeches from New Generation members occurred at the time that Dosty Ahmed told, "Shaswar Abdulwahid is in solitary confinement. His family and his lawyer are not allowed to see him."

As to how they know that Shaswar Abdulwahis has gone on hunger strike, New Generation officials revealed no information.

The senior official from New Generation also claims "Shaswar Abdulwahid’s health had already been unstable previously. Hence, he was abroad for 15 days to receive medical treatment before he came back."

When he learnt that there was a conspiracy against him and his party, Shaswar came back and went to court. According to the law, when someone is accused for such a crime and he comes to court by himself, he is supposed be released on bail." Said Dosty Ahmed

He also claims that "it is the responsibility of all the other parties, except from KPD and PUK, along with the volunteers on New Generation to support Shaswar Abdulwahid."

It has been several days that New Generation Movement started visiting political parties and so far it has visited Kurdistan Islamic Union, Kurdistan Islamic Group, Kurdistan Islamic Movement and Kurdistan Communist Party.

Peregraf has been able to reach sources from New Generation who participated in the visits and they revealed that the visits were aimed at gaining support against the pressures on New Generation.

On the 15th of May, the Investigation Court of General Sulaymaniyah (Asayesh) Security issued a warrant for Shaswar Abdulwaid. He went to court the following day and denied all the allegations made against him. But the judge gave the order to detain him, and he has been in prison since then.

His family was allowed to see him two days following his arrest.

His arrest warrant, revealed by Peregraf earlier, mentions that the warrant was issued in accordance with the second section of the Communication Device Misuse Law.

The arrest warrant was issued when Sulaymaniyah Asayesh published some videos on the 10th of May, depicting the accused members of New Generation confessing that they blackmailed some members of the movement and defamed their rival officials "on Shaswar Abdulwahid’s orders". But Shaswar denied the allegations and stated that the confessions were made under pressure.

Concerning the issue, Sulaymaniyah Asayesh and the Court could not be reached immediately for their comments.

Before going to court, Shaswar published a video claiming he would go to court by himself as he has done so before without any fear.

"What we and our friends are suffering from, is the price of our stance, not the price of our mistakes. There are many who committed huge mistakes and crimes, but they are wandering around freely in the Region." said Shaswar

The president of New Generation Movement stated that momentous changes need sacrifice, "we ensure everyone that we will stay stronger and will not surrender. What we are thinking of is the years after, not the current small and temporary stages, as these moments will pass, what will remain for future and history is the truth and boldness."
